Hello dear readers of My Kitchen Escapades! It is good to be back guest posting for Carole today and we at MadeFromPinterest have some exciting news! In two weeks, my sister Tracy and I will be presenting a class on “Creating Family Memories through Cooking and Crafting with your Kids” at a Pinners Conference in Salt Lake City!
One of the many things that we will be presenting are these Owl Cupcakes. Â Aren’t they adorable? Wouldn’t your kids love to make them? Or maybe are you in charge of the treat for a class party? Â These would be perfect. Quick and easy to make and those big old eyes just pop right out at you, don’t they?
When I went to go buy the supplies for these, I had intended on buying just the regular Oreo cookies but when I saw the Halloween version, I picked up a pack of those too and I think that I like the orange a little better. What do you think? Â I always like things that I can make with my kids and grandkids. Our children most likely will never remember the color of our bathroom but they will ALWAYS remember the things that we did with them.
So take some time this week to make these with your family. They will love you for it! And if you happen to be in the Salt Lake area on Saturday, Oct. 26th, stop on by our class so that we can meet you!!
Prepare your chocolate cake per the instructions on the box and let cool.
Frost with your chocolate frosting
Twist your oreo cookies to separate them and place the frosting side on your cupcake for the eyes. I put mine in the middle of the cupcake as opposed to at the top of the cupcake.
Place a brown M&M on the cream of the cookie to complete the eyes.
Take a mini M&M (your choice of color) and place below the Oreo cookies for the beak.
With the cookies that have been twisted off that don’t have the cream, break a side off and place in the cupcake above the eyes to form the eyebrows.
Notes
The Halloween version of the Oreo cookies had a little more cream frosting in the middle than the regular Oreo cookies did and they were much easier to twist apart and have the cream inside stay intact. So when I make this again, I will probably buy the Double Stuff Oreos instead of the regular ones.
