- 1 Tb vegetable oil
- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- salt and pepper
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 large green pepper, chopped
- 15 ounce can beef broth
- 1/2 C steak sauce
- 8 hamburger buns
- 1 Tb butter
- 1 Tb flour
- 12 ounces provolone cheese, shredded
- salt and pepper
Instructions
- In a large skillet preheat to high add the oil, ground beef and salt and pepper. Brown the meat completely and then add the onion and green pepper. Cook for about 2 minutes, then add the can of beef broth and steak sauce. Stir well and allow the mixture to boil for about 10 minutes until the sauce reduces and thickens.
- While the sauce reduces, melt the butter in a medium skillet over medium high heat. Sprinkle the flour into the melted butter and whisk it together. Allow the mixture to cook for about 1 minute and while whisking, add the milk. Bring it to a boil, whisking often, until it thickens. Add the cheese and the salt and pepper. Heat until the cheese melts and combines. Serve the cheese sauce over the meat inside the sandwich.
