I used my ice cream scoop to blob the different colors along the bottom of the pan, then did a second layer of blobs on top that were different than the color blob beneath it. The bit of mixing of colors you see in the above picture came from using the same ice cream scoop and not cleaning it off as I switched colors. You could also swirl the colors a bit, but don’t go overboard or you will end up with a very muddy looking design once you cut into it.
This was what the top of the cake looked like once it was baked. Remember that there is two layers of these colors so when you cut through, you get a more marbled effect from the cross section.
My graduate based his cake on the college he will be attending in the fall, North Dakota State University. I love that the university colors are the same as the John Deere company 🙂 I guess it could have been blasphemous to use anything but camo on the inside.
