Broccoli Cauliflower Salad is the best summer recipe side dish you will make! Loaded with fresh broccoli, cauliflower and bacon, plus a simple homemade salad dressing drizzled over the top. It is super quick and easy, plus makes a great idea for a BBQ or cookout.
Time for another Recipe Retake! Today I am taking you all the way back to 2008….
This amazing salad is the one side dish that makes the most frequent appearance at the Jones table, especially in the summer because it goes to well with whatever I have just pulled off the grill. The dressing is slightly sweet and the red wine vinegar gives it the perfect amount of tang. Even my little minions who “hate” broccoli love this salad.
Here is the original photo….these Recipe Retakes are such a humbling experience for me.
I think my new photo does this rockstar recipe the justice it deserves 🙂
I like my veggies chopped a bit bigger with this salad but my kids actually like me to chop up the broccoli and cauliflower into tiny little pieces. Maybe they just like smaller versions of what they feel is their least favorite vegetable.
My favorite healthy side dish because it is so simple and completely delicious!
Total Time:15 minutes
Yield:12 servings 1x
Ingredients
1 head broccoli, chopped small
1 head cauliflower, chopped small
1 small red onion, minced
1 package real bacon pieces
1/2-3/4 C sunflower seeds
Dressing
1 C light mayo (not miracle whip!)
1/2 C sugar
1/4 C white vinegar
Ground black pepper
Instructions
1. Combine dressing ingredients and pour over salad. Mix to combine well. Best if this salad sits overnight, but minimum of three hours.
