1 pound ground pork sausage
2 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup all purpose flour
3 cups whole milk
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ – 1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ – 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 recipe Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits
Instructions
- Cook sausage in a large skillet over high heat until completely cooked through and browned. Do not drain the fat.
- Reduce to medium-high heat and add the butter, allowing it to melt before sprinkling the flour over the top. Mix and cook for 1 minute to cook out the starchiness from the flour.
- While stirring, slowly add the milk. Let it come to a gentle simmer and add the seasonings. Taste and adjust with more salt and pepper as needed.
- Serve hot over prepared biscuits.
Notes
*if you want a spicier gravy, add a couple dashes of hot pepper flakes to the gravy
