I pulled out my slow cooker a few days ago when my in-laws were visiting and about died when I saw the inside of it! How did my crockpot get so disgusting?!? I needed a natural way to clean the inside without spending all day scrubbing!
Up until the moment my mother in law was looking at the baked-on, nasty grease of the inside of my crockpot, it really never really mattered what the inside looked like. Suddenly, it became very important to me that it no longer appeared like this….
I knew exactly where to turn for a solution to my mess, my amazing blogger friend Jill over at One Good Thing by Jillee. Of course, Jill has the best solutions to every little problem and she certainly had a solution to this disgusting mess! If you don’t already own it, Jill just released a book of all her best tips, tricks and solutions and it is indispensable! Click here to check it out!
So how did I get my disgusting crockpot looking so sparkly and shiny? Just a little ammonia and time!
Place a cereal bowl inside your cold slow cooker and fill it half way with ammonia. Put on the lid and walk away. Yep, just walk away and let the ammonia do all the hard work for you. Let it sit overnight, then remove the bowl and use a scrubbie to easily remove the baked on greasy mess. Do not emerge your slow cooker in water or fill it with water. Once your are done scrubbing, just use a wet washcloth to wipe out the gunk.
If you have any super stubborn spots, make a little paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide and that will get rid of them!
